Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua Says He'll Spend Sh15 Billion in 2022 Campaigns

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has exuded confidence that he will succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Mutua said he believes he's the man to take Kenya to the next level and promised to give Deputy President William Ruto a run for his money.

"I can beat William Ruto for the presidency in 2022. We have four years ahead of us. I am not campaigning, I am just putting my dream out there that I aspire to be a presidential candidate in 2022," Mutua said.

"People have seen that I am a man of my word. My presidential bid is not a way to get a government position in the future," he said.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader said he had constituted a strategy team, which includes foreign experts, to make preparations for his bid ahead of the next elections.

"Consultants from oversees are fashioning my campaign. I am very serious. Mutua puts his head in something and doesn't waver," he said.

"I'm not pushing myself ... it's the people. It's going to be a tight race. There are big boys like Ruto but I am confident. We need a paradigm shift."

Mutua said he understands that running for Presidency is not a walk in the park and for this reason, he has enough to spend. He said the affair will cost him "at least Sh15 billion."

"It opens the way and I have my own cash ... I can compete on the same level as others," he said. "It is worth it because I'm not doing it just for me but for the people of Kenya."

Well, this ts very interesting. You will spend 15 billion, money you have earned in Kenya but you cannot trust Kenyans with it, you can only trust foreigners. Mutua, Kenya is changing, if you can't trust Kenyans with your money, they (Kenyans) can't trust you with their country. Seek your votes from those you trust with your money. Raila has done that for fourty years, it has not won him the Presidency. Keep dreaming!!!

You make a good point. He has foreign consultants on the ground to strategize how the common Wanjiku in Masaku will vote for him. He wld sell Kenya for two cents. I thought he was better than this.

What a bunch of bull. Politicians are full of it. If you have 15 billion Kenyan shillings to buy your way up to the presidency you ought to show tons and tons of public service as well as developments which you have spearheaded to the benefits of the regular mwananchi. All the rest of the talk is bullshit.

Mutua paid himself shs 400m for coining NAJIVUNIA KUWA MUKENYA slogan during the looting era of gen Kiguoya/Kimuici Kibaki and muuaj Raila. That was to buy Machakos gubernatorial seat.Right now he is conning bongolala Kenyans with 1 Km/1 minute tarmac thereby pocketing more than shs 2 billion per day whenever you hear such nonsense. My question is-Why can't we see such construction in the US,Japan,Europe or China the home of technology?

Please wananchi don't buy these kind of bullshit from token politicians. The time has come for all these conmen to account for their wealth. We keep electing conmen and they keep on reaping us off. Wake up good people. The conmen are coming. 15 billion shillings my ass. How foolish are we? It is time to stop this gravy train with long time prison sentences. Wake up people. Open your eyes and ears.
