Sonko Wants President Kenyatta to Endorse Miguna Miguna for Nairobi Deputy Governor Job
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to forgive exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna and allow him return to Kenya to take up the Deputy Governor's post.
Speaking during an interview with KTN News on Friday, Sonko admitted to nominating Miguna for Nairobi Deputy Governor position without consulting him.
He, however, stated that he looks forward to convince the self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general to accept the nomination.
“I am appealing to President Uhuru Kenyatta to forgive Miguna,” said Sonko and further asked the President to endorse the nomination.
“I also forgave him after he called me all sorts of names during the campaigns. All we have been seeing (in relation to Miguna’s deportations) are just side shows that can be worked out. I nominated him because it is my humble constitutional duty and I believe he is the man to drain these cartels that are bothering me.”
Sonko alleged that there is a scheme to impeach him from the Jubilee party because he decline to nominate a “favoured person from Kirinyaga” as Deputy Governor.
“I don’t fear any impeachment motion against me and in any case I have done nothing wrong.”
“I have never stolen any property and no one is investigating me for any crime. I am also eager to see on what basis that motion would be prepared.”
On Thursday, Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe said Sonko would be impeached from the ruling party over his under-performance as Nairobi Governor. The official said Sonko nominated Miguna as his deputy to forestall the ouster.
“Sonko is forestalling his impeachment which has nothing to do with the DG’s position but his administration’s dismal performance. He is covering up his mistakes by trying to divert attention. His nomination of Miguna is of no significance," Murathe stated.
“The impeachment will proceed and it has to do with failures to deliver services to the people as was pledged by the party during campaigns. He can throw tantrums but they will have no consequence. We want action and not talking lies,” he declared.

I agree...let's lose him fast! Whilst he is yapping his mouth to the media, Nairobi remains a stinking hole with water shortage everywhere. Get someone who has balls to delegate without micro managing and boss enough not to feel threatened. I would recommend whoever takes post poach someone from Kigali or any such city where the services are impeccable. They should be able to understand the colonial age infra structure of Nairobi and bring it up to reflect on the city's growth. What is there now is not fit for purpose. Now, what else is new?

(Equivalent of giving Jubilee the middle finger).Best thing Uhuru can do is to support Sonko in getting Miguna to be DG OR jubilee stands to be a weak party come next election. I think this is a serious matter. Sonko is playing games with Nairobians here. The Nairobi city is too big for him. He can blame the cartels all he wants, but the buck stops at the governor’s office, his office. You have proved to us you are incapable of doing the job. Miguna is nobody’s savior either. What little city or organization did he lead ever? What experience can he show us other than that he botched NASA and led it to its demise? Or has Sonko joined the NRM and wants its self styled, so-called general to help him fight the cartels? Sonko, tell us what you guys are upto. Do you want a clandestine leader to take over the city, call for demonstrations every day and kill and steal from those you are calling cartels? Do you those you are blaming now saved the city from the destruction your friend Miguna called for not so long ago? Give up Sonko, throw in the towel, resign and let an able and competent person lead Nairobi. Those thinking of impeaching you are right. You don’t lead by shouting and politicking, you lead with brains and action. The latter two, you don’t have. The sooner you resign before you are kicked out the better for you. Miguna will not help you. His NRM did not help him storm Kenya when he flew in last. Call the cartels, talk to them, sell them your plans, let them work positively for the city, show them you are the boss and together you can make Nairobi better.
