Raila: I Won't Recognize Uhuru's October 26th Victory

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga now says that he will not challenge President Uhuru's victory at the Supreme Court if he is declared winner of Thursday's repeat presidential election.

Raila said that he will treat President Uhuru's win as political rather than a legal one, and that moving to the apex court will be a waste of time.

Speaking in an interview with the Nation, the former Prime Minister pointed out that he will not recognize Uhuru's presidency if he is declared the winner in this week's poll.

He argued that challenging President Uhuru's October 26th win would amount to legitimizing his win, which is not the case.

“It (filing a petition) will be a waste of time. As far as we are concerned, this is not an election. Therefore, it is not a legal matter but a political one which must be dealt with as such,” he said.

“You heard Chebukati say that he cannot deliver a credible poll. In fact, he said he can’t guarantee a fair one. Under such circumstances, even without addressing the issues we raised before, who would in their right frame of mind, agree to participate in such an exercise?” he asked.

Speaking in Bondo, Siaya county on Friday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader said he will he will give the way forward to his supporters on the fresh election on Wednesday.

“I will give a way forward on October 25. But the President should know that there will be no elections,” said Mr Odinga.

“I can assure you we shall conclude this matter in an amicable way,” he added without elaborating.

“If we do not stop this computer-based rigging now, it will be institutionalised. Mwai Kibaki (former President) started it, Uhuru and Ruto did it in 2013 and again in August. That’s why you confidently hear them say that Uhuru will pass the baton to Ruto to do his 10 years. In the end, elections will become a ritual where the will of the people does not matter. We are doing this for posterity. It is not a Raila battle but a battle to establish a true democracy,” he said.

Raila announced he had withdrawn his candidature from the repeat contest two weeks ago. He cited refusal by the electoral commission to commit to delivering a credible election as ordered by the Supreme Court.

However, President Uhuru's Jubilee has maintained the fresh election must be held on October 26th before the 60 days deadline elapses.

Uhuru does not need your recognition to rule Kenya. Who are you Raila? You are nohing but a hidden communist who want to turn Kenya into a Socialist State much as Maduro has done in Venezuela. You want to turn our Kenya into a basket case like all other Socialists before you. That's why you are busy organizing demonstrations to bring down the economy and the government IT WON'T HAPPEN!!!. Take my words. You were born a Communist, you grew up as a Communist, you got educated as a communist in former East Germany and Soviet Union and you will die as a Communist. There is no place and there will never be a place for Communism in Kenya. DOWN WITH COMMUNISM, DOWN WITH COMMINSIST RAILA!!!

Hanene. Raila WPN the 8/8/17 Election. So Stop! pretending. BUT: You're right. "Uhuru does NOT need" Raila's Recognition; but his Legitimate or I-legitimate WIN need Raila's Recognition or I-recognition RESPECTIVELY (yaani KISAMBAMBA). For to Reconize a Win or NOT to Recognize a "win" is CONSTITUTIONAL (whether you like it or not).

We have so many brilliant people from the Lakeside region who can deliver as presidents of our beloved Kenya. Why can't we consider supporting a Kidero presidency or someone else?

Whether you recognize Uhuru as president or not means nothing. Makau Mutua does not recognize him but that does not stop Uhuru from ruling Kenya and being the commander in chief. That is just an illusion

This babu stirs emotions so raw I can't describe! Four days to the day and he is still at it. I am sure NASA is up to something. Why are the rest not so verbally active in the run up to their mother of demonstration, e.g that little boy (babu mdogo) calling other people's sons of dogs? I am sure they are scheming something with that Wanjigi.

Why does NASA continue reading half of Chebukati statement? Chebukati statement was that he cannot guarantee free and fair polls due to violence and political interference. If they read the complete statement, they'll understand their violence towards IEBC need to stop.

Exactly....thats the same way they went distorting the message when Ruto said no one can stop elections even the chief commander of the armed forces can't,they went around shouting like lunatics saying he said they will deploy forces. Its soo pathetic even the media forums cannot clarity something like that to save the poor Kenyans that mis interpretation!

In 1997, Raila happily took part in the election despite Kenneth Matiba boycotting the same because of lack of reforms! NDP was Raila's political party then. And even after the election, he and Kibaki agreed to challenge Moi's win in court but before Kibaki could say 'rigged!', Raila was in Moi's government as energy minister, leaving Kibaki 'kwa mataa'. Now this is the same man who refuses to go to election for 'lack of reforms' and insists others should not exercise their right. Hypocrisy, conman etc are not adequate words to describe Raila....

No one can be honorable unless he honors mankind; holding the country at ransom, until one day to elections is the ultimate dictatorship.

@Unanimous,Ojinga can never do what you are suggesting here because he is driven by greed and his misguided illusion that he is entitled to be the President. He is not too smart to read the signs of the times as by the political expiration of his self by date.He lacks the deciphering spirit and has no common sense which unfortunately is not too common! However, I say to hell with the Lord of poverty and incitement.
