US President Donald Trump Wins Confidence of Majority of Kenyans in New Survey

A new global survey shows that majority of Kenyans have confidence that the United States President, Donald Trump will perform exceptionally on world affairs.

According to the survey, 51 per cent of Kenyans are optimistic that Trump's administration will perform well, contrary to a global median of 22 per cent who expressed confidence in his conduct on international affairs.

While Kenyans' views on Trump sharply differ from those in European nations, who negatively regard Trump by overwhelming margins, two other African counties have similar views to Kenya’s.

A higher number of Tanzanians and Nigerians also expressed confidence with the 45th President of the US, although the opposite was expressed in Senegal and South Africa.

The results of the survey were announced on Monday where more than 40,000 respondents in 37 countries were interviewed in the research carried out by US-based Pew Research Centre. Pew research Centre conducted 1,117 face-to-face interviews using English and Swahili in Kenya, during the month of March.

Kenyans' confidence on Trump is however; lower than in his predecessor Barrack Obama who had 83 per cent in the 2016 survey.

On US influence in Kenya, the approval has slumped, with 47 per cent of those interviewed saying it is good that US “ideas and customs are spreading here.”

I totally agree with you Mzalendo. It seems they want to impress Trump so as to jump the trap of being deported. I don't understand why someone will claim Kenyans have confidence in the same person who had the audacity to abuse Kenyans even before he entered office. This is a shame

@Mzalendo: You are right. What Kenyans don't know about Donald:

1. His immigration policies have broken up families. As we all know, a stable family is the foundation and recipe of a stable nation.

2. I remember seeing a woman from Mexico whose husband is an American deported and separated from her children and husband. I wondered whether Donald is a christian! Although I am no longer a christian, I remember chanting the following prayer everyday " ...Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive them who trespasses against us..." How can you deliberately break up a family and claim to be a christian? So many families have been separated and shed tears since Donald became the president of the USA!

3. I can't see Ndugu Magufuli, Museveni, or Uhuru deporting a woman from the three countries after marriage and with children from a man from either Tanzania, Uganda, or Kenya simply because she entered one of these countries illegally!

4. Donald verbally harassed Barack throughout his presidency and even after. He forced Barack to show the American people that he was indeed born in the USA.

5. What Donald refused to accept is the fact that, it is the Kennedy's family that paid for the air fare for Barack's father to come to study in the US. How could he have found the money to pay for the air fare for Barack's mother (who was a student) to fly to Kenya for the birth of Barack Obama!

6. After Barack left office, Donald accused him of "government surveillance" during the presidential campaign which was disputed by the members of the American Intelligence!

7. I wonder whether Malik Obama ( Barack's half brother) has been offered a job by Donald after he openly supported him and even invited Malik to attend one of the presidential debates. By the way, where is Malik Obama now?

8. Donald has already made it possible for a few Kenyans to be deported back home.

Godhavemercy, you have agood point there. a survey is meaningless if not done scientifically and that is representative with good sample, pertinent questions, and repeated trials...etc. However in all fairness and limitations there in withstanding, this survey was conducted in New Jersey. May be majority of Kenyans there are now pro-trump.
