Spurs Midfielder Victor Wanyama Scoops Top International Award

Tottenham midfielder and Kenyan national team skipper Victor Wanyama is the winner of 2017 Best of Africa role model award. Wanyama scooped the Youth Engagement Award, one of the ten honors awarded on April 25th during a gala at London’s Rosewood Hotel.

Previous winners of the award include Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba, Odion Ighalo and Alex Song.

Wanyama signed for Spurs from Southampton last summer where he has established himself as a key member North London’s side to become one of the best African players in the Premier League.

The midfielder has been in the forefront, whenever in Kenya, in nurturing young footballers. He has on many occasions donated basic needs to many upcoming footballers in Kenya including balls, uniforms among others.

The 25-year-old star expressed his excitement after winning the award, saying on Twitter: "I am honored to win an award for my work helping disadvantaged children in Kenya.”
