Dutch National to Be Deported After Assaulting Woman at Diani Guesthouse
A Dutch man is set to be deported from Kenya after being arrested in Diani, Kwale County, for allegedly assaulting a woman and damaging property at a local guesthouse.
The incident occurred on 28 October when guesthouse management reported a violent disturbance involving one of their guests. Police officers, led by the local Officer Commanding Station, responded to the call and arrived at the premises on Beach Road, about five kilometres from Diani Police Station.
By the time they reached the scene, private security staff had restrained the suspect and rescued a 32-year-old Kenyan woman, who was taken to Diani Beach Hospital for treatment. Investigations indicate that the man had locked himself in his room and initially refused to cooperate with officers.
After gaining access, police reportedly found a white substance suspected to be a narcotic drug. The discovery prompted further inquiries into the suspect’s behaviour and condition at the time of the incident.
The man was taken to Diani Police Station, where he continued to act aggressively. Video footage shared online shows him shouting, using abusive language, and making obscene gestures towards officers, who remained calm and restrained throughout the encounter.
Before his deportation, the suspect issued a brief apology, attributing his behaviour to a medical condition. “I had a psychosis episode. I need my medicine. I had not had water and food for a long time,” he said.
Authorities have confirmed that the man will be deported for violating public order and endangering others.
