Kalonzo Musyoka is the Man, Wiper MPs Tell Raila Ahead of 2027 Polls

At a Sunday church service in Utawala, Nairobi, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo and other leaders called on Raila Odinga to support Kalonzo Musyoka and front him as the Presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.
Maanzo said they have supported Mr Odinga in the past and now it is time for the ODM leader to affirm his allegiance to Musyoka. Kitui Rural MP David Mboni echoed Maanzo's sentiment saying it is time for Raila to support Musyoka's stab at Presidency. Musyoka himself steered clear of the 2027 talk and instead took the opportunity to criticize the government's punitive taxation system.
Musyoka asked the government to explore other options to generate revenue that would not be a burden on the citizens. He also urged Kenyans to fight for their rights peacefully and promised to bring about change through non-violent means. The Wiper party leader highlighted the need to urgently address the problems facing Kenyans. He further stressed the importance of having an independent police force that remains unchanged regardless of the situation. He also advocated for more support for the police so they can do their job properly.
“If a national leader can stand up because we are dealing with these tax measures that are punitive beyond imagination and say we bribed people and he agrees that they bribed them and it goes unpunished when it happens in Parliament then we have accepted corruption. For a party to take an oath and go against it is very bad and they need to know that four years is very little time,” said Mr Musyoka.
In the face of ongoing concerns about corruption, Mr Musyoka bemoaned the lack of repercussions for Silvanus Osoro after he owned up to bribing legislators to pass the Finance Bill of 2023. He highlighted the need for accountability and transparency in Kenyan politics. The former Vice President decried Gachagua's comparison of the country to a company, stating that it is imperative for Kenyans to co-exist harmoniously. He argued that if the country were to be likened to a company, everyone should have the right to reclaim their taxes back, similar to shareholders selling their shares.
