Businessman to Sue Senator Wetang’ula over Sh218,000 Debt for Dogs

A businessman has threatened to sue Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula over failure to complete the payment for dogs supplied to him last year.

James Isokat, who rears dogs for sale, claims the Ford-Kenya party leader owes his Sh218,000 after supplying him two male microchipped German shepherd dogs in June last year for Sh318,000.

The man says Wetang’ula paid Sh100,000 when he delivered the dogs at his home in Karen and promised to clear the balance of Sh218,000 the following day, but the politician has been taking him in circles since then.

“He has been taking me around with numerous threats from his security guards,” said Isokat.

Through his lawyer Adhiambo Omondi, Isokat served Wetang’ula with a demand letter on Tuesday, giving him 14 days to clear the debt failure to which he will move to court to seek redress.

When contacted for comment on the matter, Wetang’ula admitted to being in possession of the highbred dogs, adding that he was willing to return them if the complainant refunded his Sh100,000 down payment.

“I have told that gentleman to bring back my deposit of Sh100,000 and collect his grossly overpriced dogs. Tell him to deliver the payment to my home manager and take his dogs. I will not charge him for feeding and caring for them for the period they have been in my custody,” Wetang’ula was quoted as saying last year.

If I were James Isokat, I would like to ask Weta three questions: When he agreed to the total amount of Sh318,000, was there an offer, was there consideration, was there a meeting of the minds? A yes answers to all three and he has to pay up or his fighting wife Njeri should be consulted.

Wetangula should honor his side of the bargain and pay Mr Isokat the balance. This is a case of willing buyer willing seller. He cannot take possesion of the dogs and then claim that they are grossly overpriced and thus justify not paying the balance. These senators just know how to grab everything and try to armtwist honest business people in to falling for their whims. If he really wanted to return the dogs, he would have done that a long time back being a senator and all. I am guessing they had agreed the dogs are not returnable and that's why the businessman did not demand them back. Wetangula should do the right thing and pay up.

Really so you are running for big office...goods once once sold...cannot be returned. You could have done your homework first be4 committing to pay stop being cheap.

This a very ridiculous argument coming from a lawyer senator and wonna be president. He doesn't deny dogs are in his home since last year and now realized they were overpriced.

Wetangula is right
You buy a loaf of bread from somebody for 220/- & then you immediately learn bread normally goes for 100/- You’d trusted the seller not to price gouge you. What do you do? Huu ni ukora!
I’d be worse than Weta
