US Gov’t Donates 564,480 Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines to Kenya

The US government has donated 564,480 more doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to Kenya to boost the ongoing vaccination program.
A British Airways plane carrying the consignment landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday night.
“The Kenya government thanks the US government for this kind gesture. The Vaccines will be distributed countrywide to boost the ongoing vaccination campaign against the Coronavirus disease in the country,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.
On Wednesday, the country received another batch of 765,600 doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine through the COVAX facility. This brought the total number of vaccines in the country close to 10 million doses, according to the Health Ministry.
So far, over six million Kenyans have been inoculated as the government rushes against the clock to vaccinate at least 10 million adults by the end of December.
On Thursday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said a total of 6,245,698 vaccines had been administered across the country as of November 17th. Of these, 3,944,709 have been partially vaccinated while 2,300,989 have been fully inoculated.
