Kenya's Patrick Amoth Appointed Chair of World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board

Acting director-general in the Ministry of Health Dr. Patrick Amoth has been appointed as the Chairperson of the World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board.
The announcement was made by the union’s Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan during the 149th session of the WHO Executive Board on Wednesday.
The appointment comes a year after Amoth was elected Vice President of the Executive Board of the WHO for a two-year term.
Dr. Amoth is a medical doctor with a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Obstetrics/Gynaecology from the University of Nairobi.
Before joining the Health Ministry, he served as Chief Medical Specialist and Senior Deputy Director of Medical Services at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
He previously served as Chief Medical Specialist (Gynecology) at Machakos Level 5 Hospital, Kiambu District Hospital, and Kenyatta National Hospital.
Amoth also worked as Medical Superintendent at Kiambu District Hospital and a specialist at Kisumu Provincial General Hospital. He has over 20 years of experience in the medical field.
