66-Year-Old Kenyan Man Dies of Coronavirus in Nairobi

A 66-year-old Kenyan man has died of coronavirus in Nairobi, the Ministry of Health has announced.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the man died while receiving treatment at the Aga Khan Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Thursday.

The deceased was diagnosed with Covid-19 after returning to the country from South Africa via Swaziland and was suffering from diabetes. He is the first Covid-19 patient to die in the country.

“The man who was suffering from diabetes had arrived in the country on March 13th from South Africa via Swaziland,” Kagwe said in a statement on Thursday evening.

“My condolences to the family.”

Kenya has so far recorded 31 cases of the dreaded virus with one patient confirmed to have recovered and has since been discharged.
