Detectives Nab App Hailing Boda-Boda Rider Who Raped Spanish Woman in Nairobi

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday night arrested a boda-boda rider for allegedly raping a Spanish woman in Nairobi.

The DCI said the suspect identified as Dennis Wekesa raped the 27-year-old foreigner and dumped her before escaping with her belongings. The incident happened on Saturday, March 7th.

"Wekesa is suspected to have raped his victim on the night of 7/3/2020 after the foreign national residing in Kenya requested a bodaboda trip," DCI said.

The victim had requested a boda-boda ride to Kileleshwa from her apartment in Parklands through a hailing app.

"Enroute to Kileleshwa, the motorcycle rider wrestled, raped and dumped her where he later fled with her personal effects, switched off his phone and went into hiding," the DCI added.

The woman was taken to a Nairobi hospital where she was treated and discharged.

The suspect was apprehended by sleuths from DCI’s Special Service Unit at Gachie Area and will be arraigned in court to face rape charges.
