Babu Owino to be Charged with Attempted Murder

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino is set to be presented in court on Monday to face charges over the shooting of a Disk Jockey on Friday.
Babu, who was arrested on Friday morning for allegedly shooting Felix Orinda, aka DJ Evolve, on the neck at B-Club in Nairobi’s Kilimani area, spent the weekend at Gigiri Police Station where he was moved on Saturday after initially being booked at Kilimani Police Station.
Babu was arrested on Friday morning at Nairobi Hospital, where he had allegedly gone to visit the victim after the 7 am shooting incident. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) head George Kinoti indicated that Babu will be charged with attempted murder.
“It is apparent that he wanted to kill the man,” Kinoti said.
On Saturday, detectives took Babu to his Kileleshwa home, where they found ammunition after a search, according to his lawyer Cliff Ombeta. Police had earlier confiscated his gun and a spent cartridge and also carried out a DNA test to firm up the case against Babu.
“We then went to Kilimani Police Station, where a statement was recorded on the fresh findings of the search before we proceeded to the Government Chemist for a DNA test,” Ombeta said on Saturday.
He added: “Charges are hard to determine since the victim is still in the hospital. The status of the patient will play a key role in preferring charges, whether assault, grievous harm, attempted murder or misuse of a firearm.”
DJ Evolve underwent emergency surgery at Nairobi Hospital to remove the bullet that was lodged in his neck and a second operation to remove a blood clot.

@babu - you often become a product of your own mind set. You have been talking about @ballot or guns@ in attaining power for Raila! No wonder you have no problem blowing someone’s neck off!
You feel above the law simply because the tag “MP” is temporarily pinned on your chest! Your madness must be stopped by jailing you for a long time, if the courts under Maraga can do what they are required to do for the good of Kenya’s citizens.
Let’s get real, you exhibit a thuggish outlook in your own life. Your crazy up bring still demons your personal character!
Kenyans need to take charge of their country because those they have elected are just leap offs!

Come on Ombetta! I wonder if just want to sound like a brilliant lawyer who knows all...or may be criminal law is not your expertise .Do you really find your client charges hard to determine?
To me it appears pretty clear that this was an attempted murder. Yes the status of the patient will play akey roll in preferring charges-actually upgrading charges to murder in the unfortunate event that the patient dies.Short of that, attempted murder should not be hard to charge Ongili with, given what we know.
But knowing how the rich, and crooked like to circumvent the law in Kenya, I will not be surprised if they cook up some strategy to try to convince people that it was miss use of firearm.Well to me it appears that Ongili should actually be charged with all the offenses his law has mentioned.
Finally dont be surprised if Ongili ,his crooked friends pull a self defence claim, after substantial sums of cash put a smile on the victims face.Trust me Ongili, and friends are busy trying to figure the best way to keep him our of prison ,even for aweek.
