Kenya’s DCI, 4 US Police Departments Battle for Talino Forensic Workstation

Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Digital Forensics Unit is going head-to-head with four police departments from the United States for a top award.

DCI’s Digital Forensics Unit was nominated to receive a Talino Forensic Workstation and an AccessData FTK Software License from Sumuri alongside Elkton Police Department, Henry County Police Department, Washington Police Department, and Philadelphia Police Department, all from the US.

Sumuri Talino Forensic Workstation is a mid-level desktop processor system with superior processing power and capabilities, according to sumuri.com. Sumuri is a US-based company that provides forensic training, services, and software relating to the preservation, examination, and reporting of digital evidence.

The forensic workstation will be given to the department that garners the highest votes in online public voting that will close on Friday, December 20th. Kenya’s DCI on Friday urged Kenyans to help its forensic unit get the workstation by voting in large numbers.

“Kindly vote for @DCI_Kenya Digital Forensics Unit for it to have a chance to receive a TALINO Forensics Workstation & an AccessData FTK Software License,” DCI said in a tweet.

The DCI has so far garnered 46 percent of the votes behind the Henry County Police Department in Georgia, which has 47 percent. Elkton Police Department has five percent while Washington and Philadelphia Police Departments have zero each.
