Church Donations: Don’t Lecture Me on What to Do with My Money, DP Ruto Tells Critics

Deputy President William Ruto insists he will continue donating money to Kenyan churches despite the noise from his critics.

Speaking during a fundraiser at AIC Katisaa Church in Machakos Town, Ruto said he understands the bible better and no one should lecture him on what to do with his money.

He further noted that those opposed to his acts of generosity have the option of keeping their money to themselves.

“We have read the Bible and, therefore, understand what we are called to do. Nobody should be forced to give to the Lord. Therefore, someone should not lecture us on what to do with our money,” said Ruto.

A section of leaders from the opposition led by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga have in the past called for investigations into the source of the millions Ruto donates to churches every week.

Some ODM MPs announced plans to introduce a law barring persons holding elective seats from donating more than Sh100, 000 in a single fundraiser. They accused Ruto and other politicians of using the church as an avenue for money laundering.

“Some church leaders are true to their calling, others are not. We need to ask the source of the millions of money being taken to churches,” said Raila in the past.

He added: “We need to ask if someone’s salary is Sh1 million a month, where do they get Sh5 million each week or between Sh15 and Sh20 million a month to hold fundraisers in churches?”

The 8th Commandment: "Thou shalt not steal". Why are they very concern with the corrupt money that is given to Church. That is just a small percentage. Why are they talking about the money they give to slay queens. Why aren't they talking about the money they spend on vacation. Why aren't they talking about the money they spend on alcohol - pewa moja, and the list goes on and on. Hypocrisy.

The 11th commandment. Thou shall not bribe his way into leadership! After stealing so much, you have to find a way to launder you loot. Greedy churches (most if not all) are a great avenue to do so. Just confess then take yourself to Kamiti...
