Mt. Kenya Leaders Form Movement to Oppose DP William Ruto's 2022 Presidential Bid
A group of leaders drawn from the Mt. Kenya region has formed a movement to scuttle Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Led by nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda, the group says that one of the aims of the movement is to stop Ruto's allies who have launched premature campaigns for 2022 elections.
The Daily Nation reports that the movement is dubbed the Mt. Kenya and Diaspora Leaders Forum. The 'diaspora' appendage refers to leaders outside Central Kenya who are opposed to Ruto's bid.
"We now have a group that the president can rely on as his directives on premature campaigns have fallen on deaf ears. Some of the MPs have been consumed by 2022 politics to the extent of insulting older politicians who have seen it all in politics," says Kamanda as quoted by the Daily Nation.
He adds: “We shall go around the country reminding the people that President Kenyatta's term is not yet over and urging leaders to respect him and we shall be naming them."
Members of the movement include Kamanda, former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, MPs Peter Kimari (Mathioya), Ruth Mwaniki (Kigumo), Waithira Muithirania (former Woman Rep. aspirant) and former Murang'a Senator Kembi Gitura.
Former presidential aspirants Peter Kenneth and Martha Karua are also said to be part of the group.

I do not know of any Kenyan regardless of tribal lines who wants Ruto to be the president with the exception pro-Ruto inner cartel and beneficiaries.
