Gov't Revokes Appointment of Prime Suspect in Governor Obado's Sh2 Billion Graft Case

ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has revoked the appointment of Jared Odoyo Kwaga as a member of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) board.

This comes after his appointment caused a storm since he's one of the prime suspects being investigated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over alleged siphoning of more than Sh2 billion from the Migori County government coffers.

EACC claims that Kwaga is one of the proxies used by Migori Governor Okoth Obado to loot the funds from the county’s accounts.

“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 5 (2) (h) of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication Order, 2011, as read together with section 51 of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and Technology revokes the appointment of Jared Peter Odoyo Kwaga as a member of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication,” reads a notice from CS Mucheru.

EACC says that Kwaga owns seven companies that allegedly received millions of shillings through fictitious tenders before wiring the money to Obado in a web of transactions.

The anti-graft agency further claims that Obado’s daughter Susan is among persons who received part of the looted funds from Kwaga.

Kwaga’s wife Christine Akinyi, brothers Patroba Ochanda Otieno and Joram Opala Otieno, as well as his mother Penina Auma, are also listed as co-conspirators in the scheme.

How on earth was his name every short listed for aplum job?
I think any appointee on that level should be at least be cleared by Omtata for integrity.

Odoyo Kwaga was about to continue with his transgressions of thieving and cleaning us up. Thanks to the public out cry, the CS Joe Mucheru and the executive woke up from their slumber and gave Kwaga a kick outdoor. But our problem is bigger than Kwaga's drama; we have a government and a leadership that believes in corruption. Stealing public money and resources is just a hobby to them. They are deaf to the crying and sufferings of millions of hungry and sick children. Dirty water and lack of food for the populace is a minor inconvenience that can't stop or delay their cocktails and Parliament,s 5 star hotel service that awaits them. Where are the activists when you need them? Pray for Kenya and Kenyans.

This is a crime. To be considered for a public service job while you are a major suspect in a huge corruption scandal is a crime against the people. The crime was being committed by this fool offering him the opportunity to hide and steal more money. Shame on you people.
