Retired President Daniel Arap Moi Leaves Nairobi Hospital

Retired President Daniel Arap Moi was on Monday evening discharged from Nairobi Hospital after doctors gave him a clean bill of health.

Moi was admitted at the hospital on Thursday last week for what his physician Dr. David Silverstein said was routine medical check-up.

In a statement, his communication team says the 94-year-old was treated for “a bout of flu”, which doctors at Nairobi Hospital blamed on the current weather conditions.

“His physician Dr. David Silverstein said doctors had examined and closely observed the former president for the days of his admission and added that they had treated him for a bout of flu which he blamed on the chilly weather conditions now being experienced,” says Moi's communication team.

Moi's Press Secretary Lee Njiru says the former president has proceeded to his Kabarnet Gardens residence after leaving the hospital.

In March, Moi was flown to Israel and was admitted to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, where he underwent a knee operation.

Moi developed the knee problem in 2006 after he was involved in a minor road accident in Limuru.
