Former US President Barack Obama Lands in Kenya

Former US President Barack Obama has arrived in Kenya. Obama landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Sunday afternoon and was immediately driven to the State House in a convoy of about 20 vehicles. He will hold talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Welcome to Nairobi Barack Obama. President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have just received him at State House,” Presidential Service Communication Unit said in a tweet.

Obama is expected to meet Opposition leader Raila Odinga later in the day.

On Monday, he will fly to his father’s ancestral home in Kogelo, where he will open a sports centre under Sauti Kuu Foundation, an organization established by her sister Auma.

This will be the third time he is visiting his father’s ancestral village and the first time since 2006, when he was a senator.

The last time he was in Kenya was on July 2015, where he attended the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, an initiative of the US Presidency.
