Miguna Miguna Breaks Silence on His Nomination as Nairobi Deputy Governor

Self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) general Miguna Miguna has broken his silence on his nomination as Nairobi Deputy Governor by Mike Sonko.

Miguna, who is currently Canada, dismissed the nomination terming it as a “malicious distraction.”

“Good afternoon? I have no idea what nearly everyone seems to be talking about. It’s a malicious distraction. That’s all I am saying!” Miguna said.

Governor Sonko nominated Miguna in a letter to Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Elachi on Wednesday. In the letter, Sonko said Miguna is the right man for the job, which fell vacant after Polycarp Igathe's resignation in January.

“I hereby forward my nominee, Lawyer Miguna Miguna to undergo full vetting process and approval by the County Assembly for the position of Deputy Governor,” reads part of the letter.

“The nominee meets all the requirements provided for in the Constitution, the Leadership and Integrity Act, the Elections Act and County Government Act.”
