National Youth Service Hit by a Fresh Sh15 Billion Heist

A fresh scandal involving the disappearance of billions of shillings has been unearthed at the National Youth Service (NYS).
The new scandal, which has reportedly seen the body lose Sh15 billion, comes only three years after NYS was hit by another scandal, losing millions of shillings. A fresh probe undertaken by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and other agencies in the last one year shows the youth body has lost Sh10.5 billion
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji said several suspects including high level government officials have been linked to the scam after investigations.
"Many people are involved in this matter. Some of them are very senior government officials," Haji said as quoted by Daily Nation on Saturday.
The DPP further noted that the well orchestrated looting spree at NYS involved gross and deliberate violation of procurement laws and processes in payment of pending bills for the last three years.
Officials at the DCI officials said that investigations into NYS cash books revealed that some of the companies that received huge amounts of money from the body in the past few years did not even exist. The office of the DPP is expected to forward names of the individuals mentioned in the fraud to the DCI for prosecution.
In the 2015 heist involving Sh791 million, top state officials, including Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who was then the Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and his National Assembly counterpart Aden Duale among others were adversely mentioned.
In his second and last term in office, President Kenyatta has vowed to crack the whip on corrupt officials, warning that they will be prosecuted regardless of who or the position they hold.
“We want to categorically and clearly state that funny practices that lead to loss or wastage of public resources will not be allowed.
“We will not entertain anybody messing up with government resources,” the President warned during a meeting in State House.

Mr. President, please help our dying patriotism. You promised that government official involved in looting of funds will dance to the music. Why is this happening over and over and no one is doing anything? Like a joke or something! !!!
