'Nairobi Business Community' Defends its Operations

The controversial 'Nairobi Business Community' has defended itself over claims by Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) that it does not represent businesspeople in the city.

In a statement, the lobby group dismissed Kenya Private Sector Alliance (Kepsa) as an elitist caucus that is clueless and silent on the welfare of small scale traders in the capital.

Kepsa had earlier disowned the Nairobi Business Community, saying it does not recognise their resistance to opposition National Super Alliance anti-IEBC protests.

The Nairobi Business Community lobby hit the headlines in the last two weeks, after coming out to counter Nasa's anti-IEBC protests in Nairobi CBD, claiming to protect their businesses and properties.

Wilfred Kamau, the chairman of the lobby, whose members are mainly dread locked, maintained that it will continue defending their businesses from looting and destruction by rowdy opposition protesters.

“We are the ones who lose our properties, bear the blunt (sic) of violence and endure endless suffocation of teargas due to those confrontations,” Wilfred Kamau said.

“Therefore, elitist group (KEPSA) which has no idea what a normal businessman goes through has no moral authority to speak on behalf of us. And in any case, how should a Nairobi Businessman look like? In a nutshell, we have no business doing any business with Kepsa.” said Kamau.

Keep it up Nairobi business community. Wacha waongee. Tuko pamoja. The NASA losers cannot be allowed to destroy businesses we have worked so hard to mold.

If the police can control the paid goons that are protesting and prevent them from destroying property, looting or interfering with city life, then the so called Nairobi Business Community should not be there because they will only make things worse and start another confrontation like the one of 2007/2008 election violence.
