Seven Perish in Morning Grisly Road Accident along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway

Seven people died on the spot after a commuter bus they were traveling in was involved in a grisly road accident at Hill Tea in Timboroa, along Nakuru- Eldoret Highway on Thursday.

Police confirmed four children and three adults perished in the 5:30am Thursday morning accident.

Timboroa Police boss Agnes Kamau said that the accident occurred after the commuter bus rammed into a truck as it tried to overtake another vehicle.

Kamau said that 30 other passengers aboard the bus which was headed to Western Kenya town of Kakamega from Mombasa sustained serious injuries and have been admitted in various hospitals in Eldoret and Eldama Ravine.

The accident comes at a time when new rules and guidelines by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) are being formulated to name and shame speeding motorists in a bid to curb road accidents.

The bus wreckage was towed to the nearby Koibatek Police Station.
