Why Lupita Nyong’o Makes Incognito Visits to Kenya

Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o has explained why his daughter Lupita has been making incognito visits to Kenya in the past few years.

In a recent interview with Citizen TV's Lillian Muli, Governor Nyong'o said the Hollywood actress's celebrity status has forced her and the family to keep her visits to the country a secret to avoid attracting the attention of the media.

The 74-year-old politician said the life of the 'Black Panther' actress changed after she scooped an Oscar Award in 2013, becoming a global celebrity.

“Being a celebrity she can’t just come home like that, otherwise journalists will be all over her and she will not enjoy coming home for a short time to be with the family and friends," said Governor Nyong'o.

"So we said, okay you come in incognito, enjoy yourself, meet your friends, be a baby at home, because she likes that, and then go back and resume your life. That also means sometimes we have to adjust to her schedule because her schedule is not controlled by her,” he added.

In 2015, 2016 and 2018, the 36-year-old sneaked into the country unannounced with members of the fourth estate being prevented from covering her.

Her recent visit to Kenya was in June this year where she attended the burial of her grandmother Dorcas Owino in Seme, Kisumu County.

Dorcas, who is the mother of Governor Nyong'o, passed away at her Nairobi home on May 28th, aged 98.

I think she just became " too good for Kenya" , and I concur, BS article. I personally cannot stand her. everyone else REPS where they are from and act as ambassadors for their countries of birth.
