Veteran Kenyan Rapper Chris Kantai Passes Away in Nairobi

Veteran Kenyan rapper Chris Kantai has passed away in Nairobi.  The singer's family representative Wanjiku Thuku has confirmed his death.

Kantai passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Kasarani, Nairobi on Wednesday morning.

The musician has been receiving treatment at the hospital over the last two days.

Ms. Thuku said the Jinga Hii hitmaker succumbed to breathing complications. “I am currently in touch with his family, including his wife and mother, to arrange his funeral,” said Thuku.

The 42-year-old leaves behind a wife and one child.

The award-winning singer is credited for nurturing celebrated Kenyan-Norwegian rapper Stella Mwangi alias STL.

Some of his popular hits include Kantadda, Happy, Jinga Hii, Mo than Jus Friends, Heshima, What Mo, Haterz, Lifestyle, Issues, among others.
