Kenyan Man Charged with Murder in Reading Stabbing

Edwin Kiplangat Yegon, 29, has been charged with the murder of Linner Sang, 39, who was fatally stabbed at a residence in Reading, Berkshire, on Sunday, 7 September 2025.
Mr Yegon also faces two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Thames Valley Police responded to reports of a violent altercation at a property on the A4 London Road at approximately 2:35 p.m. Ms Sang was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ms Sang had returned to the flat, previously shared with Mr Yegon, to collect her belongings following a domestic dispute earlier in the week. A confrontation reportedly escalated during this visit, resulting in the fatal attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart May of the Major Crime Unit confirmed the arrest and charges, saying that the police are not seeking any other suspects. He urged anyone with information to contact the police, citing reference number 43250458285.
The incident has impacted the Kenyan community in the UK. Both Ms Sang and Mr Yegon were employed in the care sector, having previously worked as teachers in Kenya. Ms Sang arrived in the UK in late 2023, followed by Mr Yegon, who joined her on a dependent visa.
Witnesses reported that neighbours intervened after hearing screams, and the suspect left the scene. Mr Yegon was later located near a river. Friends and colleagues have described Ms Sang as a dedicated and compassionate individual. A community initiative has been established to coordinate tributes, support her family, and arrange for the repatriation of her body to Kenya.
The family has requested emotional and financial support.
