Former IEBC commissioner Dr. Roselyn Akombe has returned to the US after securing a new job at the United Nations (UN).

Akombe, 47, has been appointed as the Chief of Peacebuilding Strategy and Partnerships at the United Nations Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.

She will be based at the UN headquarters in New York, where she previously worked.

“Grateful for the appointment to serve as Chief of Peacebuilding Strategy and Partnerships at @UNDPPA,” Akombe said via Twitter on Thursday.

She added: “Love this beautiful view of New York City from my office, despite the cloudy & cold weather. Always grateful to God for his blessings.”

Akombe has been serving as the Governance and Peacebuilding Africa Coordinator at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Regional Hub in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

She joined UNDP in January 2021 after leaving her previous position as the Chief of Policy at the Policy and Mediation Division within the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs at the UN head offices.

Akombe holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science degree in Global Affairs from Rutgers University (US), and a Doctor of Philosophy in the same subject from Rutgers University.
