Gov't Pledges to Provide More Support to Kenyans in the Diaspora

Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has reiterated the government’s commitment to offer more support to Kenyans living and working abroad.
Speaking when he officially opened the Annual Kenya Diaspora Homecoming Convention at Ole Sereni Hotel Nairobi on Wednesday, Mutua said President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration acknowledge the importance of the Kenyan diaspora community in the country’s economy.
Mutua pointed out that the Kenya Kwanza administration created a new State department specifically for Diaspora Affairs owing to the critical role the diaspora plays in the nation’s development.
He promised that his ministry will provide more support for Kenyans through the country’s missions abroad in order to mainstream and empower Kenyans in the diaspora.
"We'll be posting officials starting with 20 missions, and we'll have a diaspora department in all our missions very soon," he pledged.
CS Mutua described himself as a product of the diaspora and encouraged Kenyans abroad to take advantage of the opportunities being provided by the government to not only grow themselves as individuals, but also come back home and help grow the nation.
The opening ceremony was attended by among others newly appointed Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu, United States Ambassador Meg Whitman, and Dr. Shem Ochuodho, the Global Chair of the Diaspora Association.
This year's convention, which runs between December 7th and December 9th, is themed "Inclusive Growth Leveraging Diaspora Resources.”

Totally confused! What is it that some Kenyans believe they deserve while living in the United States, a nation of numerous other immigrants? Special treatment? Some sort of divine mercy?
Hello! What is so special about Kenyans that they somehow get singled out among the numerous immigrants living and THRIVING in this same economy?
Am yet to hear Mexicans or Canadians or Tanzanians or Germans or any other immigrant group being promised of such help.
Kwani, si should you decide to invest back home siutajipanga tu. Where is the gov coming in here? Do you really need their help or is this "help" getting imposed on you. Remember, no such thing as free lunch!
Different angle of things:
Btw...did I hear boarding schools are soon to be a thing of the past back home?
Hmm! Hope you see what I see; continuing to copy cat the Western system yet, mnaforget mwafrika bado will forever be seen as mwafrika regardless of the Diplomas, PhDs $$ etcetera so, hang on to your strengths.
Wacha watoto wa learn independence from a young age. This is what made me the independent thinking woman I am today. This is what is making many Kenyans whom they are today but, "they" are slowly stripping off every bit of the mwanainchi's strengths.
Again, wacha kila mtu ajidumu kivyake. Kumbuka "kikulacho kinguoni mwako."
Otherwise, wachatu nibaki confused!
