Radisson Blu to Reopen Nairobi’s Upper Hill Hotel After 15-Month Closure

Global hotel chain Radisson Blu is set to reopen its outlet in Upper Hill, Nairobi, more than a year after its closure.
The hotel brand, in a statement on Thursday, said the facility will resume operations on May 9th under new management.
“The hotel will reopen on May 9th, 2022, under new ownership, with the goal of achieving the highest international standards,” read the statement in part.
Russel Storey has been named the General Manager to run the high-end hotel that was shut down in December 2020 due to low bookings occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Radisson Blu closed the 271-room hotel and laid off the entire workforce, but its sister outlets Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence Nairobi Arboretum and Park Inn by Radisson Nairobi Westlands remained in operation.
With a bed capacity of 271, the Upper Hill hotel is the company’s largest facility in Kenya, with the other two having a joint capacity of 262.
Its reopening comes weeks after Nairobi Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel also announced it will resume operations in April after a 21-month closure.
