The United States will be sending a delegation to represent the country at President Uhuru Kenyatta's inauguration ceremony.
Uhuru will take oath of office on Tuesday at the ceremony to be held at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
US Ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec will lead the US government team at the inauguration ceremony, the State Department has said.
“Ambassador Godec will be the highest-ranking US government representative at the inauguration, but will not be the only USG [US government] representative present," an official of the State Department told the Nation.
He however did not disclose the names of other US government officials who will accompany Godec at the fete.
Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe last week said about 20 heads of states had confirmed their attendance to the swearing-in ceremony that will mark the Jubilee administration's second term in office.
“Preparations are still ongoing for next week’s Swearing-in of President Kenyatta. We have invited high profile guests and 20 heads of states have already confirmed attendance,” Kiraithe said last week.
