Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah will hold a virtual meeting with Kenyans living abroad on 30 October 2026 to review a proposed framework for diaspora engagement with initiatives linked to his vision for national transformation.

The meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. East African Time on Zoom, will bring together professionals, community leaders, supporters and other interested participants. Organisers say the forum will provide an opportunity to review and refine the proposed terms of reference for coordinating diaspora involvement.

The discussions will cover six key areas: political opportunities, stakeholder engagement, long-term strategy, legal and regulatory compliance, communication and public outreach, and resource mobilisation. The proposed framework is intended to establish clear structures for coordinating activities and translating support into practical initiatives.

The planned engagement comes as Kenyans living abroad continue to contribute to the country through remittances, professional expertise and international networks. Their involvement in governance, policy discussions and development has also become an important consideration for political leaders seeking to engage citizens beyond Kenya's borders.

For Omtatah, the forum offers an opportunity to organise diaspora support around a more structured programme of participation. In addition to possible financial contributions, organisers are expected to encourage participants to offer their professional skills, technical knowledge and strategic advice to support future initiatives.

The invitation calls on participants to contribute to the review process under the theme “Your Voice Matters!” The approach places emphasis on consultation and collective input, allowing Kenyans abroad to share their views on the proposed framework and their potential role in shaping the initiative.
