Kenyan Coach Mark Mungai Appointed to Valor Technical Team in the US

Kenyan football coach Mark Mungai has been appointed to the coaching staff of Valor in the United States.

Mungai’s appointment marks a significant step in his career and reflects the growing presence of Kenyan professionals in international football. He has built his coaching profile through a strong focus on grassroots development and youth training.

After moving from Kenya to pursue opportunities abroad, Mungai established himself in Washington State’s youth football system. He worked with Bellevue Athletic FC and Western WA Surf, where he guided young players through key stages of development, focusing on teamwork, confidence, and long-term progress.

He holds a US Soccer Federation D licence, which supports his expertise in training methods, match preparation, and player development. His coaching approach prioritises technical skills, discipline, and a structured learning environment for young athletes.

Valor officials said his international experience and commitment to grassroots coaching would add value to the club’s technical team. He is expected to contribute to strengthening player development pathways and supporting the organisation’s community-focused model.

Mungai said he was pleased to take on the new role and to continue working with young players while representing Kenya abroad.
