Kenya Opens New Forensic Interview Rooms in Nakuru to Boost Anti-Corruption Fight
Kenya has opened new forensic interview rooms in Nakuru through a partnership between the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The facilities, unveiled at the Commission’s South Rift Regional Office, form the second phase of a modernisation programme that began at its headquarters in Nairobi. The rooms are equipped with recording technology and designed to meet international standards, with the aim of improving the quality and reliability of evidence gathered during investigations.
The project was developed in collaboration with the FBI, the United States Embassy in Nairobi and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. Nakuru is the first regional office outside the capital to receive the upgraded facilities, reflecting an effort to expand anti-corruption resources beyond Nairobi.
Officials said the new infrastructure will strengthen transparency and professionalism in handling corruption cases. Comprehensive recording of interviews is expected to reduce disputes over procedure and support stronger prosecutions in court. The South Rift office now joins a limited number of facilities in East Africa that meet international benchmarks for evidence collection.
