Kenyan Community in Nottingham Mourns Death of 36-Year-Old Mary Paul
The Kenyan community in Nottingham is mourning the death of Mary Paul, 36, who died in hospital after a short illness, her family has confirmed.
Mary Paul was remembered by relatives and friends as a warm and generous person whose loss has been deeply felt across the local Kenyan diaspora. Her parents, Murugi Mwangi, known widely as Mama Kim, and John Mwangi, announced her death in a family statement.
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter Mary Paul, following a short illness in hospital,” the statement said.
Ms Paul was a sister to Kim and Lisa and an aunt to Malachi, Elijah and Micah. She is also survived by extended family members and friends in the United Kingdom and abroad. Those who knew her have described her as kind and welcoming, noting the shock felt within the community at her passing.
The family has announced that prayer and fellowship meetings will begin on 26 January 2026 at Mama Kim’s home in Nottingham. The gatherings will take place daily from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm at 2 Alwyn Road, NG8 6GT.
