Kenyan Church in London Fined for Causing Disturbance with Demon Exorcisism

A London-based church has been fined £7,740.50 (Sh1 million) for "disturbing neighbours with loud sermons" to exorcise believers of demons and spells.

The church headed by a Kenyan, Bishop Climate Irungu, was fined at Camberwell Green Magistrates on February 22, after it was found guilty of two charges under Section 80 of the Environmental Protection Act 1980.

“We would have preferred to settle this matter out of court, but unfortunately, our attempts to work with the church leaders were ignored," Councillor Michael Situ, a member of Southwark Council cabinet said.

Situ said the penalty will remind both leaders, and the wider community that anti-social behaviour of any kind will "not be tolerated and wrongdoers will be made to pay one way or another".

The Southwark Borough Council took Irungus Camberwell church to court after residents lodged complains about the "noisy church services held in the night.

According to the churchs website, it runs a weekly 3am service because “it is a well-known time that witchcraft and negative elements begin to work".

But the Bishop from Mtito Andei said the church would appeal the fine as it had received no complaints since installing a new roof in an effort to reduce noise.

“I do not deny that we made some noise. But we have spent nearly ten thousand pounds reducing the noise. And I was out of the country so could not go to court," said Irungu, as quoted by Southwark news .

The Bishop said while the witches are busy working their witchcraft at 3 am, "you are getting the wisdom of God concerning their demonic operations".

Night VIGILS should be banned all over the world. Most of them are BREEDING GROUNDS for more Demons of Sins (Fornication & Adultery and therefore Breakage of Marriages, Virginities and Vows; leave alone SPREAD of Pregnancies and the HIV Virus by some of "these pastors."

Call me whatever but I don't believe in stuff like this at all. I think there should be a red line Btwn freedom of worship and public nuisance. The fine should have been a little higher than that in my opinion.

Minchi, has it occurred to you that whatever you believe in, that is if you believe in anything, may be repulsive to someone else? That's what freedom of religion is all about. So long as you dont step on someone else's toe all is dandy... To some witchcraft is religion to you it may be acult or something else...
And yes their is aline at which you cross -becomes public nuisance in every community. Most of the "noise" nuisance is measured in decibles

Kenyan churches are notorious for that crime. These guys are practicing 18th century logic of exorcism. If Irungu has that much power, let him use it to get him out of paying the fine.

The best place to perform exorcism is in Kenya, especially among the politicians. Kenyan politicians posses the worst demons known to mankind. They posses demons that make them steal from public, murder, fornicate, grab land and other evils. This bishop should start his exorcism at his home town of Mtito Andei and end it at Nairobi's Ministry of devolution. If I lived in London I would among those filling complain against him.

This is the best news concerning a Kenyan church , all we are used to hear is washirika being reaped off money interns on kutoa mbegu. I was brought about knowing You do not have to pray loud for God to hear you, he looks into heart. I agree with the fine and I would encourage them they pay, appealing who wasting more more. You have been fined under environmental law. You claiming to have not got any complain is stupidity, if I was I won't even tell you unaweza sema niko na Dimons. I wish such laws will be implemented in kenya.
Chini ya mnazi ameamua leo lazima niende church.
