Ruto Issues Directives for Arrests of Government Officials in Embakasi Gas Explosion

President William Ruto has issued a directive for the immediate dismissal, arrest, and detention of government officials culpable for granting licenses to the ill-fated gas-filling plant in Embakasi that recently exploded.

Addressing attendees at the Chekalini Market groundbreaking ceremony in Lugari, Kakamega County on Friday, Ruto expressed outrage over the plant's illegal operation in a residential area, blaming corrupt officials for endangering the lives of Kenyans. Stressing the urgency of the situation, Ruto demanded the officials responsible be dismissed and arrested within 24 hours to face charges for their actions.

He specifically pointed out the issue of bribery within the government, asserting that officials had accepted bribes, undermining the law and leading to the tragic explosion that resulted in numerous injuries and fatalities. Highlighting the impact of corruption and a lack of discipline, Ruto emphasised the consequences of issuing a license for the hazardous facility. His directive follows confirmation by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) boss Daniel Kiptoo that the gas filling plant managed multiple sites in Embakasi and Nanyuki.

Kiptoo disclosed that EPRA officials had conducted a raid on the Nanyuki facility, leading to the apprehension of employees. It was revealed that the facility, which only possessed a license as a transporter of LPG gas, had attempted to establish itself in Embakasi three times, facing denial due to failure to meet safety standards.

Nakuombna Ndugu Samoei Cherop Ruto uende ofisini mwako ambayo iko Harambee Avenue halafu uanze kufanya kazi ipasavyo.

Hayati Mpilo Tutu alisema:

"If you are silent in situations of injustice, you have taken the side of the oppressor."

The fish is rotten from the head (Ruto) to the tail (corrupt civil servants)! The consequences of that corruption is taking short cut and doing shady deals which compromise human life! Ruto should fire himself first if things will change for the better in Kenya. You just don’t wrap up a deep wound with a cheap band aid and then expect the deep cut to heal over night!

“You just don’t wrap up a deep wound with a cheap band aid and then expect the deep cut to heal over night!” Moses you have said it like 12 wisemen. This corruption is thriving due to the local Kenyans promoting it. It’s not just the government officials alone.
And in your case even if you had the most expensive bandage for your wound, it still won’t heal overnight!
The wound of corruption that President Ruto inherited is neither healing overnight. The most Kenyan people are the more corrupt individuals yet at end of the day they are ill bend over shifting blame to others.

HOW TO END THE INSTITUTION OF CORRUPTION IN KENYA IN LESS THAN A MONTH:

1.Create a special tribunal for all bribery/corruption related cases.
2. Allow all technologically related evidence (cell phones) to be admissible in the court of law.
3. Anyone caught giving or receiving any form of favors to be prosecuted immediately according to the bribery/corruption related offences.
4. A mandatory jail term to be administered to anyone giving or receiving any form of money or goods while on duty.
5. Jail conditions should be so challenging in order to deter anyone thinking of giving or receiving a bribe.
6. No one should be exempt from being prosecuted including a president in office.
