President Ruto Defends Decision to Launch the Same Road Twice

President Ruto has defended his decision to launch the construction of the same road twice following criticism from Kenyans on social media.

During his tour of Nyandarua County on Thursday, Ruto launched the upgrading of the 55-kilometer Captain-Ndemi/Wanjohi-Kwa Matu-Geta-Kahuruko-Ndunyu Njeru Road to bitumen standard.

But curious Kenyans noticed that the president had commissioned the construction of the same road five years ago on November 26th, 2018 when he was still the Deputy President.

Some online users hit out at President Ruto, terming the move as an attempt to dupe Kenyans into believing that his administration is working.

In a statement on Friday, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed defended the move, claiming that when Ruto launched the project in 2018, the funding was cut by the government in a bid to frustrate his political ambitions.

“During last year's election campaigns, President Ruto promised to complete all stalled projects, including roads. During the ‘Handshake’ (2018-2022), many projects he launched were deliberately denied funding even though they were in the government's programme,” stated Mohamed.

“This was to frustrate the then Deputy President and his bid for the presidency. Today, it's evident that the architects of these schemes that they thought would frustrate President Ruto, ultimately hurt the people, the economy and Kenya.”

“...the President is and will clean up the mess. He promised to complete all stalled projects before embarking on new ones. This is the President fulfilling his pledges,” he added.

If in 2018 the road already started after commissioning when did it stop, where had it reached and why Commission it second time instead of putting in money straight away without any more publicity. Had Kenyans not complained, wouldn't Ruto have taken away another credit for initiating a new road construction? Kenyans cannot buy such poor answers. That was not an answer but just a game of lies as usual.
