This is Not a Hustler's Shoe, Senator Ledama Olekina Says as He Flaunts a Sh294,845 Shoe

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has flaunted his premier brand oxford pair of shoes, warning that it is not for hustlers.

The two-time senator, who does not shy away from flaunting his possessions and flashy lifestyle, posted a photo of the tobacco bis colored shoe on Twitter.

"This is not a hustler shoe so if you see me wearing it or if you see anyone wearing it just know a big boy is passing by ..: get out of the way …" he captioned the shoe’s image.

The shoe, an Alessandro Galet Scritto Leather Oxford, costs a whopping £1,960 (Sh294,845) as indicated on the brand's website.

It is manufactured by a French label named Berluti, a luxury footwear brand for men's shoes. Their high-patina Alessandro oxfords are icons of the House.

Olekina, 49, was elected as the senator for Narok on an Orange Democratic Movement ticket in the 2017 general election and re-elected in 2022.

He was educated at Narok High School and thereafter proceeded to the United States where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and English Communication from The University of Massachusetts in Boston in 2002.

The politician is the founder of Maasai Education Discovery, an education center for girls. He has been involved in efforts to conserve the Mau Forest in Kenya.

Olekina is the most followed Maasai politician on both Facebook and Twitter.

And we wonder why we can't develop our own local industries in Kenya. I understand the need to show off but $2400 for perishable shoes that you can barely wear in Nairobi much less when you go to see cūcū or guka. Nginyīrakas have more comfort and treadwear. If wazungu start buying them, watch this Maa gentleman discover shoes his forbears have worn for generations.

If he were in the company of Ben Arnault,Jeff Bezos,or BIll Gates,I might say Mmmmm, he is among "equals",sort of. But why are you showing off in the midst of people who elected you,and their shoes probably cost Sh 300 apair,on average? What exactly is the wisdom behind that?It is as if you are mocking them.
Granted it's your money your- choice, alittle humility would go a long way.
