Wiper Party Clears Mike Sonko to Vie for Mombasa Governor’s Seat

Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has declared interest in the Mombasa county gubernatorial seat in this year’s elections.

Sonko, who has been in the political cold since his impeachment as Nairobi governor in 2020, has been cleared by the Wiper Democratic Movement to contest for the seat.

Wiper elections board vice-chair Agatha Solitei on Monday confirmed that Sonko will face off with Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo for the party’s ticket in the upcoming nominations.

“That’s the list we have forwarded to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, and yes Sonko has presented himself as a candidate in the Mombasa Governor’s race,” she told Capital FM News.

Sonko, who was previously a member of the ruling Jubilee Party, joined the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party as a life member last month.

He was impeached from office in December 2020 on grounds of gross violation of the constitution, abuse of office, misconduct, and crimes against national law.

The 47-year-old politician previously served as the county's senator between 2013 and 2017, and MP for Makadara from 2010 to 2013.

Last month, Sonko and immediate members of his family were banned from setting foot in the United States over alleged involvement in corruption during his tenure as Nairobi governor.

The US State Department declared Sonko a persona non grata alongside his wife Primrose Mbuvi, his daughters Agnes Saumu Mbuvi and Salma Wanjiru Mbuvi, and his underage son.

The ban was announced by Counselor for Public Affairs at the US Embassy in Nairobi Eric Watnik on behalf of the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Watnik said the US had obtained credible information that Sonko was involved in graft, including bribery, irregular awarding of tenders, and undermining the rule of law.

It is really not a joke my friend. I whole heartedly blame it in kenya voters who allow this kind of crap to happen. I really don’t feel sorry for kenya anymore because apparently all politicians have colluded to being the country down. Just look at Keroche in Naivasha. Now she wants to be the Senator to shield herself from the taxes she has not paid to the country. Kenya has turned out to be a man dog eat a dog society. Voters are part of the problem and nonsense like this won’t stopped until voters take a stand never to vote for a criminal.

Sonko defiled and tried to annihilate Kenya's largest city and is now going for the second one. Kalonzo has no choice but to support him because he fears Sonko might attempt to be the next Ukambani kingkin.

The idea of stupid tribal kingpins must come to an end. Ruto is the kingpin of kalenjins; kalonzo is the kingpin of Ukambani, etc. Who is the kingpin of Kikuyus because they have been told by Ruto not to have a kingpin so that he can divide them right in the middle so he can weaken them and possibly finish them if he becomes the next president?

Wafula Chebukati:

Please wake up and do your job as required by the constitution in order to save our nation from incompetent people running for public elective office.

Brother Kidero was accused of financial mismanagement and embezzlement while in office as a governor of Nairobi. Now he has shifted his base to Homa Bay.
Now we see Brother Sonko playing the same game and finding a new location in Mombasa to run for the position of a governor! Our memories are still fresh about his impeachment as the former governor of Nairobi.

Brother Chebukati, I request that you work closely with Brother Haji and Kinoti 24/7 in order to go through a list of anyone seeking public elective office before the Election Day (August 09, 2022). We the people demand a New Kenya with our public elected servants devoid of skeletons rattling in their closets.

Kalonzo must be a very desperate man. He is grasping on straws as he floats down River Athi. This is the reason why I keep saying that Raila should not have entertained kalonzo in Azimio. Kalonzo is a trouble make and he cares less about kenya. There is no much difference between Ruto and Kalonzo.

Sonko is the most foolish of all the politicians and now he is g he easing to Mombasa to steal from the city after he destroyed Nairobi. Kidero is heading to kisumu to steal what he left standing after Miwani Suga factory and then Nairobi county. These thugs must be barred from contesting for any political offices.

Integrity has become a meaningless world to Kenyans, and this is a great step backward.
We complain about corruption and its evil effects, and yet we glorify crooks.
I could say more, suffice it to say we are victims of our own doing. We cannnot blame mzungu any more for our "shithole" governance.

I have repeatedly said that either POLITICIANS think we're stupid or we are plainly stupid.
We need to reject SONKO, and please kenyans, we need to think twice before voting.

Impeached and allowed to seek public office again?!
Corrupt officials MUST be barred from seeking public office, no matter which backyard they originate from.
