Prof. Makau Mutua Appointed Spokesperson of Raila Presidential Campaign

US-based Kenyan scholar Prof. Makau Mutua has been appointed to the Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign Secretariat.

Prof. Mutua will serve as the spokesperson of the campaign secretariat and head of its think tank.

The Kenya-American attorney takes over the spokesperson role from Elizabeth Meyo, who is the CEO of Raila’s campaign secretariat.

Prof. Mutua is a State University of New York (SUNY) Distinguished Professor and the Margaret W. Wong Professor at the University at Buffalo School of Law, where he served as dean for seven years between 2008 and 2014. He teaches international human rights, international business transactions, and international law.

He is also the vice president of the American Society of International Law and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

The 64-year-old holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law from the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), and master's and Ph.D. in law from Harvard University.

Mutua has been a staunch supporter of Odinga, who will be giving his fifth stab at the presidency in the upcoming elections.

We are witnessing the transformation of Pro. Makau Mutua from an activist to a politician. He just might one day dethrone Kalonzo and become the Ukambani kingpin.

It’s very possible with the back and forth confusion Kenyans have witnessed in the past few days. Kalonzo must be suffering from some sort of brain disorder. Everything is all about Kalonzo. His goal is to enrich himself but I think it’s too late for him.

Raila, Mutua's reputation is tainted. He does not command a lot of respect in the Diaspora. You could have done better. Dr. Koni Hanene is better situated for the job. He is much smarter than this crack head Mutua. You know what, Raila will also appoint him Kenya's next attorney General. I place a bet on this
