Kenya Deputy President William Ruto Heads to the US for a 10-Day Tour
Deputy President William Ruto is on Sunday expected to leave the country for a 10-day tour of the United States.
Ruto, who is eyeing the presidency, is scheduled to participate in a discussion on the future of governance and economic development in Kenya, East Africa, and the African continent, according to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP).
He will take part in the conversation alongside US Congress member Karen Bass at Georgetown University on March 2nd at 5:00 pm.
The conversation will be moderated by CEIP Africa Programme Director Zee Usman and Georgetown University’s Ken Opalo.
"We are honored to host the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto for a discussion on the future of governance and economic development in Kenya, East Africa, and the African continent. We invite you to join us for this special conversation with Deputy President Ruto and distinguished guest U.S. Congress member Karen Bass," CEIP said in a statement.
Bass is the US representative for California’s 37th congressional district and chairs the House Foreign Affairs sub-committee on Africa, Global Health, and Human Rights
CEIP is a private, nonprofit organization that advances cooperation between nations and promotes active international engagement by the US.
Reports indicate that Ruto will also hold a series of meetings with Kenyans in the US as he seeks support for his presidential bid.
