Romania-Based Kenyan Doctor to Introduce Non-Invasive Facial Surgeries in Nairobi

Romania-based Kenyan aesthetic surgeon Dr. Maria Othieno Bayerl has announced plans to introduce non-invasive facial procedures to the Kenyan market.

Dr. Othieno, who lives and works in Bucharest, says opening a practice in Nairobi will make aesthetic procedures readily available and affordable to Kenyans.

"I plan to open a facility in Nairobi and work with beautiful Kenyan women. I am thinking of setting up shop and maybe once in four months I can be flying in with a team from Romania and do non-invasive facial aesthetic procedures," she told The Standard.

A non-invasive procedure does not need the use of machines to physically break the skin. Dr. Othieno says the procedures she specializes in are meant to enhance one's appearance while posing a very low risk of complications.

"The procedures I do do not alter appearance, they instead enhance one's looks and they are non-surgical. They promote a youthful appearance with minimal downtime and low-risk of complications," she added.

The procedures include rhinoplasty, surgery of the nose commonly referred to as nose job; blepharoplasty, a procedure which improves the appearance of the eyelids; botox, a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the looks of wrinkles; and facial fillers or contouring, which are substances injected on the face to add or restore volume, smooth lines, soften creases and enhance contour.

"I am glad to be part of a system that contributes positively in creating a positive outlook no matter how small for a patient," the medic added.

"The main goal of cosmetic procedure is to improve a person's appearance, self-esteem, and confidence..."

Dr. Othieno, who grew up in Pangani, Nairobi, holds a medical degree from Carol Davilla Medical School in Bucharest, Romania.

Stop confusing yourself. What does Yusuf has to do with killings? Who said all Yusufs are muslims? Yusuf is describing the picture which is worth a 1,000 words. Wacha petty thinking bro

Kithoi, I agree with you here. There are many urgent facial procedures that are urgently needed as a ‘medical need’ through cosmetic surgery (which this Dr is a specialist) such as facial reconstructions after tumor removals, cleft palates, nerve stimulation post mild facial paralysis due to strokes, scarring abrasion etc which are a medical necessity. Most folks cannot afford these procedures abd have to be flown out. If she can address those ones as well, God bless her and she is surely welcomed. If not, then it is a misplaced priority which many Kenyans are not yet ready for. In fact, there are many cosmetic surgeons in Nairobi who are already doing what she is proposing, just google search them.

What happened to homosapiens? Some how they have decided to fight mother nature.Nobody wants to gracefully age.
I agree @ Kithoi. As they say, life would be much better if we as a society would focus of things that matter most.
Life is lived in stages,baby-stage,prepubescent stage-teenage, young adults, adults, old age and then we croak. And through each stage our bodies change. They become pretty much"less attractive"...MMmmmmm youthfulness fades.Yes I know man has always tried to find that fountain of youth. This is where men and women of the cloth should come in and tell the flock that,we should just accept who we are,age gracefully, and worry more about evading that eternal furnace...

Mr collusion,Iwould like GG to tell us using his hyperopia ability, how we can avoid getting old,and if we should really aim for that? And while at that, why it is necessary to alter our appearences merely for cosmetic reasons.Yes we are free to chose and do what we want.I am just questioning the validity of such choices,is it to impress other people?

Some of these cosmetic surgeries are useless! Micheal Jackson went through so many of them but he was still not satisfied - invasive or not!

@Kithoi speak for yourself. It's a free market. Willing buyer willing seller. Remember some Kenyans are starving but Villa Rosa Kempiski is still heavily patronized.

Thanks Dr. Othieno for excelling in a foreign land, Kenyans are proud of you but what Kenyans need now is not looks. They need affordable healthcare!

Misplaced thoughts! She’s not the government to provide affordable healthcare! She’s an Individual who happens to be a trained professional & an expert in her field! She has all the rights to open up her business & make money just like you are free to do yours!

Many people are starving now in your village, some lacks school fees! On the same token why can’t you provide them yourself instead of self enriching yourself with investments that would help the masses! She’s doing exactly what you are doing!

Y’all nay sayers need to evaluate yourselves next time before throwing your misguided and judgmental opinions against others.

Wow..some people are just wayyyy to negative. How do you do life, carrying such negative energy? Appreciate her story. Not everyone is cut for medicine/medical school, and her story of resilience in a foreign land is uplifting. What do you have to offer other than condescending other people's ideas/vision? Congratulations Dr. Othieno.

Hahaha @ Kenya, you mean like a grandma dressed in spandex and shaking her behind, and gyrating in a provocative manner...Yeah. I would rather watch a 23 year old do that than a an 80 year old grand ma. There is agood reason why pornographic actors are young, especially the women...
