Ruto Speaks After Visiting Blogger Dennis Itumbi in the Hospital

Deputy President William Ruto has visited blogger Dennis Itumbi in hospital where he is recuperating following his alleged kidnapping and torture last week.

Through Twitter on Wednesday, Ruto said Itumbi is strong and in high spirits, though he will remain bedridden for the next month as per the doctors’ advice.

“Spent time with Comrade DI last evening, saw his heavily bandaged arm and legs, the result of torture by people who should have been there to protect him and us all. They have now turned violent & fatalistic after all the negative narratives, threats and blackmail against us failed,” Ruto wrote.

He added: “They wanted to kill his spirit but DI is strong and in very high spirits though doctors say he will be confined to bed for a month.”

Itumbi, who serves as Ruto's digital strategist, was reportedly picked up by four unknown men outside a barbershop along Kiambu Road where had gone for a shave last Thursday.

Eyewitnesses said the suspected kidnappers approached him as he left the barbershop and forced him into a silver Toyota Allion before driving off towards Nairobi.

Itumbi was reportedly found dumped on the roadside in Kasarani area and was rushed to Neema Hospital with injuries on the head, arms, and legs. He was later transferred to Nairobi West Hospital where he was admitted.

The incident was reported at Thindigua Police Post and booked under OB number 10/23/12/2021.

Any kind of extrajudicial harm should be rejected, good to see Rutto visiting DI. How ironical that the head of state has not publicly denounced the criminal acts

Nonsense! You don’t even know what the president does or should do! Uhuru will not play the gallery of fools. Let Ruto do the antics after organizing the drama! Is the extrajudicial nonsense to you?
