Uhuru: I Have Made Kenya One of the Wealthiest Nations in Africa
President Kenyatta says the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown twofold in the last eight years.
Speaking on Tuesday when he delivered his eighth State of the Nation Address before a joint sitting of the Senate and National Assembly, the president indicated that Kenya’s GDP now stands at Sh11 trillion compared to Sh4.75 trillion in 2013 when he took over from Mwai Kibaki.
Uhuru noted that the country has moved six places under his administration to become the sixth richest country in Africa.
“We have managed to multiply what was bequeathed to us, in just eight years my administration has multiplied the GDP by a factor of 2+,” said Kenyatta.
He added: “Given that we have doubled our GDP in a record eight years, it is no wonder Kenya is projected to grow twice as fast as the sub-Saharan economies in the period of 2021-2022 and all this because of leadership and the power of choice given to our citizens.”
Uhuru further pointed out that the country’s real GDP grew by 10.1 percent in the second quarter of 2021, the first-ever double-digit growth recorded in the history of Kenya’s economy.
“The notable contributions to this growth include the ICT sector which grew by a 25.1 percent in the second quarter of 2021,” he said.
The transport and manufacturing sectors grew by 16.9 percent and nine percent respectively during the period.
The president added that his administration has made Big Push Investments that have spurred development, revived dead capital, and boosted entrepreneurship.

Funny how he acts all civil and good to the people. You can’t talk about making Kenya one of the wealthiest nation on borrowed loans. The average Kenyan can barely afford to make ends meet but yet this fool is talking about making Kenya wealthy. You barely hear him talking about creating jobs or even assisting the people during the pandemic. All he did was impose curfews and empower police.
