Terror Convicts Who Escaped from Kamiti Claim They Were Aided by Prison Officers

Three terror convicts who were re-arrested after breaking out of Kamiti Maximum Security Prison last week claim they were aided by prison officers.

Sources say the three: Musharaf Abdalla alias Alex Shikanda (34), Joseph Juma Odhiambo (30), and Mohammed Ali Abikar (35) have confessed to have been helped to escape by people inside the country’s most guarded detention facility.

They are said to have removed a brick on the wall of their cell then used blankets, strings, and broomsticks to make improvised ropes that they used to scale two high walls around the prison.

The three then used a private car from Kamiti to Machakos where they boarded a public service vehicle to Kitui town and eventually to Endau in Mwingi east where they were captured following a tip-off from members of the public.  It is suspected that the three were planning to cross over to neighboring Somalia.

Detectives have since recovered two phones used by the three during the escape and are still searching for two vehicles; one that ferried them to Machakos and another that was allegedly on standby to whisk them into Somalia.

The three convicts are being held at the Anti-Terror Police Unit headquarters after a Nairobi court directed that they be detained for 10 days to allow detectives to complete investigations.

They were arraigned before Principal Magistrate Boaz Ombare of Kahawa law courts on Monday.

Lets first see the eveidence that they are willing to provide. Like the "private car from Kamiti to Machakos", are they willing to provide the details, including how it was acquired, paid for, etc? That's information that they already have. If they cannot provide that, then any other evidence might be a diversion.

@ Kora Kanini, in Kenya as we all know, its not the most qualified person who gets the job,but the most well connected,or best briber.Given this backdrop, is there any wonder that even the supposedly well guarded prison in Kenya would have corrupt officials letting prisoners walk free for, asmall fee...?
As always, they knew the end results, but again as always, they are hoping that leads would dry up,the case drags on and eventually fall through the cracks and disappear as more cash change hands...

I just read in Daily Nation that the new terror host spots are ,Kakamega,Eldoret, and Nakuru not the traditional terrorist recruiting hot bed.to mention afew.
As noted with the captured terrorists ,new recruits tend to adopt Muslim names, meaning that they covert to Islam.
My question is, what is in this Islam Religion that breed terrorists, that is not found in other religions?

The IRA, who were blowing up places in Ireland were christian catholics. The jews were terrorists during the British colonial rule in Israel. There are so many other examples. Terrorism is meant to instill fear by whoever commits it. It is not something most governments are willing to deal with.
