Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu Discharged from Hospital

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu Governor has been discharged from hospital days after her admission.

Ngilu was admitted to the Nairobi Hospital over the weekend after testing positive for COVID-19. On Wednesday, the governor announced she was leaving the hospital and thanked doctors for taking care of her.

“I’m leaving hospital after discharge, thanks to God for restoring my health. I also thank doctors and other medical personnel in both Kitui and Nairobi for excellent care,” Ngilu tweeted.

“Thank you all for your overwhelming messages of love and wishes of quick recovery.”

In a statement earlier, Ngilu’s office said she was responding well to treatment and she is out of danger.

“Doctors say she is not in any foreseeable danger. She is even able to make phone calls on her own and speak freely with visitors. Thanks to everyone who sent in their messages of quick recovery and goodwill. Let us continue praying for our governor.”

Her COVID-19 status was made public by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, who asked Kenyans to pray for her. Ngilu received her first shot of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in March.
