Kenya to Receive 880,000 Doses of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine from the US

Kenya is set to receive over 800,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from the United States.

The consignment of 880,000 shots of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is set to arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Monday morning, according to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.

The vaccines will be received at the airport by CS Kagwe and Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Nairobi Eric Kneedler.

Another consignment of about 400,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine is expected to arrive this month while 1.8 million shots of the Pfizer vaccine will be delivered in September. Kenya received 817,000 doses of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines donated by the UK government this month.

The country has so far received a total of 2,730,100 doses of vaccines and has inoculated 2,374,197 people against the disease. Of these, 1,595,335 are first doses while second doses are 778,862.

The Health Ministry targets to vaccinate at least 10 million Kenyans by December 2021 and 26 million by June 2022.

I came to Kenya for a short visit, can you imagine they still charge for the vaccine donations? A country of thieves and lunatics. We need a revolution! I’m ready to pray for this land, bleed for it too.
