Widow of Former KDF Soldier Gifted Sh2.6 Million House

Pauline Waithira, the widow of a former Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier could not hide her joy after she was handed keys to a newly built house on Saturday.

The putting up of the Sh2.6 million house in Bahati, Nakuru County was funded by the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) in collaboration with Bahati CDF, and KDF’s Compensation and Welfare Department. It was constructed by the Engineers Brigade between April 28th and July 2nd.

Waithira was left with a young son and daughter following the death of her husband Private Jeremiah Mbugua on January 1st, 2018.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, MWAK Chairlady Tabitha Kibochi said the house will provide a permanent habitation for the young widow and her kids.

“It is indeed distressing to lose a husband leaving behind young children. The story of Pauline came up last year and touched our hearts including that of the Chief of Defence Forces. However, I am delighted to hand over the keys to this new house to uplift this family,” she said.

 “We look forward to supporting and make more impacts in the lives of other widows, orphans, and those who are disabled.”

Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Wanderi from the Engineers Brigade said they saved up to Sh1.4 million by sourcing labor and materials from KDF.

“I am an engineer and this 90 square meters house with all the specifications we’ve given it, would have cost in excess of Sh4 million. Having our troops doing the work has saved costs and time taken to construct the house,” he said.

On her part, Waithira said: “Indeed there’s hope for a tree once it’s cut, it shall sprout again. I sought assistance from the CDF and today I’m glad for the honor bestowed on me and my young children. From the bottom of my heart, I’m thankful.”

@ceneca! I have told you many many times that Kikuyus are very hard working people. The lady would have made with or without help! That is the nature of the kikuyu people! But the kind gesture makes a difference!

The Kikuyus are not like the luo people who are always out there wailing like mad dogs and spreading your small hand to be feed, given and remain catered for because you me first name is laziness!

Only in Kenya where: sell air to the goverment (those Naivasha thugs), steal public lands and sell (Ritho saga in Lamu county - his kids killed him & wife off) and that Kilifi one who was hounded out in the clashes, Kenyattas took the whole of Taita Taveta, and posing as Maasais home and abroad yawa -stealing Maasai Land in 'willing buyer and seller schemes'. You do not deny people loans, impoverish them, make them powerless, then turn around and claim 'willing buyer, willing seller'...eee?. Funnily, Ruto is doing the same thing calling it Hustling. You call it hardworking, other Kenyans see it as sly and conning. I want you to 'hardwork' out here my friends...where there is law and order, and your own is not 'giving loans' to enable 'willing buyer and willing seller'. So far, observation is that - Nada. They huddle in churches preaching tribalism. To be fair, not all are this devious 'hardworking'. Wapi equity bank? Thugs galore! And of course many 'harworking' 'businessmen' were members. Over half of the residents of Naivasha are of the luo community who travel from distant with chicken in the buskets to be manual laborers fir the Kikuyus who ow huge flower farms! Those are the ones who steal kikuyu owned lands and try to sell it to the government. When caught they blame their theft on the Kikuyus!

Ndugu Gatheca, I am concerned about your use of the lexical item "tribe" in your post. Why? Our late hero Dr. Wangari Mathaai, came up with a more objective, better, and friendly word "micro-nation." Her introduction of this word basically makes an effort to get rid of the old hackneyed colonial word
"tribe."

Currently, Kenya is composed of about 60 distinct micro-nations. Why 60? During their brief colonial administration in Kenya, the British created two fake micro-nations known as the "Kalenjin" and the "Abaluhya." This group (Abaluhya) is composed of 16 "micro-nations" where some of them have to communicate with one another using Kiswahili or the English colonial language because their languages are so different that communication is not possible. For example, when a Bukusu speaker comes into contact with a native speaker of the Logooli language, they cannot understand one another.

I have made an effort to use her word (micro-nation) and introduce it to other speakers of the most arrogant language spoken in the world known as "English language." This language (English) belittles all the rest of the World languages by using less friendly lexical items in describing and analyzing other people of the world. Their use of the word "tribe" was to show that they are superior to other linguistic groups and cannot be lumped together as equals.
