Chris Kirubi's Son-In-law to Take Control of Centum, His Multi-Billion-Shilling Real Estate Company

Andrew Musangi, the son-in-law of the late businessman Chris Kirubi is poised to take over control of the deceased’s real estate company - Centum Real Estate.

Musangi, who is the husband of Kirubi’s only daughter Mary Ann, has reportedly been appointed to the board of Centum Real Estate, a subsidiary of Centum Investments.

The appointment will pave the way for Musangi, a lawyer by profession, to manage the multi-billion-shilling company that was close to Kirubi’s heart.

Musangi serves as the Chairman of the Jubilee Party’s National Elections Board, GenAfrica Asset Managers, and the Public Procurement Regulatory Board. He is also a managing partner at Mukite Musangi and Company Advocates, which he founded in 1998.

Centum Real Estate has its operations spread across Kenya and Uganda. Its investments include Vipingo Development, Palm Ridge Apartments, Pearl Marina Estates Ltd, Centum Development Kenya Ltd, and Uhuru Heights Ltd.

Kirubi, who died of cancer on June 14th, was the chairman of Centum Investment Company as he was the largest shareholder.

He was a renowned investor, industrialist, and entrepreneur with interests in manufacturing, media, real estate, insurance, and investment.

Kirubi, 80, left behind two children namely Mary-Ann and Robert Kirubi. The tycoon was laid to rest at his Bendor Estate in Murang’a County on June 19th.

"Musangi serves as the Chairman of the Jubilee Party’s National Elections Board,... and the Public Procurement Regulatory Board"

Implication of this is an indication that poor Wanjiku will never have a chance. Big men have positioned themselves in places of power.

Musangi is only joining to fill the vacant position. Centum is ran by a team and decisions are made by all board members not only one person. So his joining the board as a member among many others doesn't make him now the owner. There is a difference between being a shareholder and a board member. Kirubi two children Mary Ann (musangi wife) and Robert remains the direct beneficiaries to get the dividends paid out annually. Kirubi had many companies which are being ran professionally with each having a board. His children are obviously overseeing them to some extent to ensure they are not ran down. His son Robert has had his life in Europe with alot of responsibilities of his job and businesses as well. Do you think he can be everywhere at the same time? You can watch the interview Chris Kirubi did in September 2020 with Churchil show. He talked of his children his son being a senior person director in charge of the whole Europe for DHL and that he travels alot so definitely he is a valuable person of merit in his own right.
