Kenyans to Receive Passports at Their Doorsteps Under New Delivery Service

Kenyans who successfully apply for passports are set to receive them at their doorsteps.
This comes after the Department of Immigration and Posta Corporation of Kenya signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the launch of last-mile passport delivery services.
Under the new arrangement, applicants will only visit their immigration station once for the capturing of biometrics.
Immigration Director-General Alexander Muteshi said the initiative is aimed at reducing unnecessary trips by applicants to the immigration offices.
The service will see Posta Kenya deliver passports to applicants at a physical address of their choice or the nearest postal office.
“In the era of Covid-19 pandemic, this strategic partnership will help Immigration services decongest their premises by having documents delivered to Kenyan’s doorstep,” said PostMaster General Dan Kagwe.
Once the passport is ready, the applicant will receive a notification with a link to the postal passport delivery self-service portal.
The applicant will then select their preferred delivery location, input the tracking number, personal details, and pay a delivery fee.
The initiative will also provide delivery services for VISA applications, work permits and passes, citizenship and alien cards.
Since the service was piloted in September last year, more than 156,000 passports have been delivered.

The idea of having a National address system / street namings in residential areas is long overdue.
( oops some places have structures built all over the place, making it hard for of implementation of this).
Hopefully we're getting close to that, because by doing that, Posta's can do its job with ease.

They should work around organising the structures in the slum areas to pave way for street namings & in roads so that, when it comes to Posta doing the deliveries there's little or no hustle

But if only they could process documents like passports, birth certificates, property titles , etc. on time, picking them up has never been reported as a problem , if I am not wrong. Fix the processing systems first and also eliminate corruption inside those offices first!! Bure kabisa!

The problem is the inefficient system and corruption within the government departments. Picking is no issue. Work on proper urban and rural planning so that naming & numbering streets and physical location can be easy. Otherwise BURE KABISA.
